Day 1: Domestic flight: Cusco to Puerto Maldonado

Upon arrival at Puerto Maldonado city airport, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to our office in town where you will pack only the necessary things you need for your next few days (we recommend this to keep our boats and porters load light and provide a duffel bag if needed), the main luggage can stay in our safety deposit box. Afterwards, in full company and guidance of your guide, you will be transferred from the office to the Tambopata River port to sail down the Tambopata River for approximately 2 hours to the Sachavacayoc farm. Along the way, we have the opportunity to spot birds, caimans, capybaras and monkeys if we are lucky. The box lunch will be on the boat and the vegetarian option is available if needed, we also provide cold bottled drinks on the boat. Once arrived at the lodge, settle in and get some rest. After a short break, you will take a jungle walk, as an introduction to nature and to familiarize yourself with the interior of the forest, wait until dark to take a night walk in search of the elusive nocturnal creatures and bugs, such as the impressive ground-dwelling bird-eating tarantula (as big as your hand)

Day 2: Chuncho macaw clay lick and piranha fishing

In order to fully enjoy the parrot show, it is important to arrive early before the birds, so we will leave at approximately 4 am by boat up the Tambopata River. After a 2-hour trip, we will arrive at the spectacular Chuncho clay lick, the largest in the world, with the three main species of macaws gathered at the same time, and many varieties of parrots, parakeets and conures. Hundreds of parrots gather to eat clay, a special and unique behavior that is only found in this part of the planet. We will have breakfast on the boat, and during the trip to the clay lick we will have a great chance of seeing capybaras, caimans and perhaps, if we are lucky, jaguars or tapirs (the two most special land mammals in the Amazon). We will stay in the clay lick area, if necessary, until we can see the macaws eating clay. We will return to the lodge for lunch. After a good rest, you prepare for a 1-hour drive from the lodge to the pristine Condenado Lake. Condenado Lake has very good wildlife such as monkeys, caimans, many hoatzins, many macaws that fly in to rest, we also have a very good chance of seeing the elusive and shy Anaconda, this place gives us a unique jungle experience with no other people but us.

Day 3: Excursion to Ungle: Sachavacayoc Oxbow Lake

After breakfast you will visit the spectacular Sachavacayoc Lake which is located in the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve, two hours away from the lodge (walking slowly observing things). This lake has very good wildlife such as monkeys, caimans, tapir options, anacondas, hoatzins and many blue and yellow macaws that perch and nest all around, this place gives us a unique jungle experience. You will arrive there around mid-morning and we will immediately take a paddle canoe and quietly enjoy the deepest and wildest jungle, watching monkeys and macaws making noise. This activity lasts all day, so you can enjoy and explore the lake at your own pace looking for anacondas and spider monkeys. After a tasty lunch (box lunch), you will fish for piranhas and if you catch them you can bring them back for dinner. After this experience you will return to the lodge through the deepest jungle. Once at the lodge and rested for a bit, head out to look for caimans along the river before dinner.

Day 4: Domestic flight from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco/Lima

After breakfast, you will take the motor boat down the Tambopata River, accompanied by your guide, to the city to pick up your belongings from the office and go to the airport for your domestic flight. Hot shower available at the office before returning to the airport.

Safety and high quality service

Pre-departure briefing. At our office, you will meet your professional naturalist guide, who will explain to you about this rainforest expedition trip and some indications about luggage, safety and eco-friendly behavior instructions.
Licensed and experienced tour guide. We are fortunate to work with an extraordinary team of highly professional and certified naturalist guides full of passion, inspiration, courage and success, eager to drive unforgettable travel experiences, where the spirit of travelers is accompanied by impeccable, safe and comfortable service.
Best trained crew of chef, waiter, porters and outboard boat drivers. You will meet them before your rainforest expedition trip. Our team is highly trained and does an extraordinary job. They will pamper and take care of you for the entire duration of the entire expedition trip.
A duffel bag and secure luggage storage. If necessary, a duffel bag will be provided for you to repack your personal belongings for the duration of the expedition trip. We recommend this to keep our boats and porters’ load light, the main luggage can stay in our security deposit.
Rubber boots. We provide you, in rainy season, a pair of rubber boots because the trails are muddy or flooded.
Extras included in your travel package. We are convinced that small details are important in your comfort and travel experience, therefore, you will have at your disposal water to refill your bottles, plastic ponchos and insect repellent.
First aid kit and shortwave radios. Our team of guides is trained in first aid and emergencies in the wild. We conduct mandatory training sessions annually in February. Your guide will always carry with you a first aid kit to deal with any emergency related to tourist activities in the rainforest, such as: scrapes, cuts, insect bites and others.
Evacuations, if necessary, will be made as soon as possible to the nearest medical center.

Meals

3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners. Our talented jungle chefs will cook for you healthy, nutritious and delicious dishes that will leave you overwhelmed with the taste and presentation. We respect all diets (vegetarian, vegan or special menus are available free of charge) so just let us know if you have any particular allergies or restrictions. Our travelers love our food!
Water at the lodges and excursions. Filtered and treated water will be provided for you during the duration of your jungle expedition and you can refill your bottles at any time at the lodge. We highly recommend bringing with you a camel bag, canteen or 2-liter capacity bottle.
Coffee/Tea. A self-service beverage such as coffee, tea or a container of local soft drink will be available each morning and throughout the day at the dining hall. Start your day with a cup of coca coffee or tea or just a delicious hot chocolate and enjoy the early morning view from inside the hostel or your room is lovely.
Tea time or happy hour. Pamper yourself every day in the afternoon, before dinner, with hot drinks, biscuits/cookies, hot and cold jam, butter, etc.
Health and care for the environment. Our priority is your enjoyment and comfort; therefore, we are very strict in following sanitary care standards in handling ingredients, preparing your meals, disinfecting utensils, water, and the hostel in general.
Hand sanitizer and soap are available in the bathroom. All organic waste is used to make compost for our gardens and non-organic trash is recycled and returned to the city.

Shuttle service.

Private car/van. Get transfer from your hotel to the airport and from the airport to the river jetty and round trip.
Motorboat. You will use our outboard motor boats to navigate the Tambopata River to reach the lodge and round trip. Also, for caiman watching at night along the river banks.
Porters. They will carry your belongings, food and others from the boat to the lodge and your rooms.

Accommodation service

3 nights in cabins/bungalows. The accommodations we have are double cabins, twin cabins and family cabin.
A supplement for single room is available upon request.
