South America’s pride, the Andes is the continent’s 4,500-mile-long spine that has earned the title of the world’s longest continental mountain chain. With awe-inspiring landscapes that are must-see spectacles in themselves, this cordillera is also home to dozens of distinct cultural groups, each possessing their own language, history, and civilization – yet all sharing the same spirit of the Andes.

When you arrive in Quito, Ecuador’s capital (which sits 2,800 meters above sea level at the foot of the Pichincha volcano), you will be met at the airport and taken to your hotel.
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to Quito airport for your flight to Coca.
Departing from Quito, a 30-minute flight to Coca over the eastern Andes mountain range. After landing, approximately mid-morning, a 5-minute transfer will take you to the port “La Misión” where you will embark on a comfortable covered motor boat. Here we will begin a canoe ride on the Napo River for approximately 2 hours, a packed lunch and coffee will be provided along the way. Along the way, birds such as herons, kingfishers and others can be observed. After arriving at the NWC entrance dock, we disembark for a bathroom break and then take a majestic and peaceful 2-hour paddle canoe ride surrounded by trees, paddling along a narrow stream that connects to the lake where the lodge is located.
Chances to see some species of monkeys as well as large birds such as toucans, parrots or even macaws. Arrival in the late afternoon at the Napo Wildlife Center with a stunning view of Lake Añangu, welcome drink followed by a briefing with the local manager.
Wake up early to reach the most easily accessible parrot clay lick in Ecuador, approximately 1 hour from the lodge, guests arrive there just before the parrot activity at the clay lick starts between 7:30 and 8:30. A total of 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws can be seen.
Later, walk along the forest trail to visit the Kichwa community of Añangu and share time with a family in their activities. Return to the stream and walk through a terra firma forest for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the second parrot clay lick, where, if the weather conditions cooperate, you can find different species of parrots, parakeets and even macaws. Lunch at the Napo Cultural Center, where you will share with people from the Kichwa community. You will return to the lodge by canoe, where you will arrive in the late afternoon with a delicious dinner waiting for you.
After early breakfast, we leave the lodge to enjoy an incredible view of the rainforest from a 36m high tower – a great way to see life above the forest floor. This is the second tower of the Napo Wildlife Center (the first is attached to the dining hall and allows for magnificent views of the lake). The tower is located about 30 minutes from the lodge deep in the terra firme forest. As you ascend the 12-story tower, you pass through different levels of the forest and emerge at the top of a massive Ceiba tree.
Here you cross over to a wooden platform that is actually built inside the tree and experience the view that was previously reserved only for birds. The metal tower itself was built to the highest standards, galvanized and carefully inspected by engineers. Safety is the priority. The platform at the top of the tree was also built by tree platform specialists. From top to bottom, there is no better canopy experience in eastern Ecuador.
Flocks of colorful tanagers pass through the tree canopy, blue-and-yellow macaws fly by, in nearby trees spider monkeys forage for fruit, two species of large toucans sing in the early morning and evening, and the life of the forest canopy opens up before you. Birds that are virtually impossible to see from the forest floor far below are suddenly right next to you, oblivious to your presence.
Early departure and final canoe excursion back to the Napo River, the stream may reveal new views of giant otters, saki monk monkeys or many other rare birds. Transfer to the motorized canoe to return to Coca, arrival approximately after a 2-hour boat ride to check in for the Coca – Quito flight, time to be announced according to departure details and arrangements.
Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.
You must take transportation according to your international flight.
