This amazing expedition trek is for those travelers that picture themselves trekking among glaciers, neon red desert mountains and to suddenly introduce yourself into a striking many-colored mountain “rainbow mountain” hidden deep in the Peruvian Andes. During this journey you will experience a personal close up to small community villages and witness how local people go in their daily lives living off the land and grazing their herds of llamas and alpacas on marshy areas next to different color lagoons and the shade of the majestic and imposing mountains. This route also is home of an array of wildlife including soaring condors, eagles and falcons, viscachas, Andean geese, vicuñas, pumas, and others. Early departure (5 am) towards the beginning of trek, Upis town. At this point you will enjoy a breakfast prepared by your talented chef and meet the hole crew (muleteers tent makers and chefs) who will make possible a memorable journey. Afterwards start your trekking accompanied by a privileged view of the majestic Ausangate mountain and sensational landscape views of valleys, paramo like terrains and pristine color lagoons at the distance. Lunch will be after 4 hours and with a spectacular surrounding view. Upon arrival in campsite our crew will have ready set up the tents and rest of equipment, and later enjoy afternoon tea and dinner.
A new day starts with a wakeup call and a hot cup of coffee or coca tea and later a bucket of hot water to wash your face. After a delicious breakfast start you adventure mountain up to cross the first pass (Puca Pass 4,870m./15,980ft.), from where you will get simply astonishing views of glacial lakes, eroded mountains and with some luck the majestic flight of the condor. After a well-deserved rest start to head down to lunch spot enjoying ate every stop the surreal mixed landscapes between herds of llamas and alpacas with small community villages and barren-colored hills. After reenergized with a nutritious Peruvian dish at lunch, you will start to climb the second pass (Warmisaya Pass 4,985m./16,355ft.), from where you will have the last view and from different angle of the imposing Ausangate mountain. Then descend for one hour to campsite and be greeted with hot drinks and later with diner. You will definitely be amazed with the delicacies our chefs prepare out of the comfort of traditional kitchen.
This day, after early breakfast, you will head towards the incredible rainbow mountain, and upon arrival to the summit (5,100m./16,732ft.) you will have 360° breathtaking views. Your lead guide will explain why are especial these mountains and the reason of such a beautiful display of colors and geological formation. Remember to make the most of your time to connect with energy of the mountains and surrounding landscapes that are truly unique. Later introduce yourself to another surreal landscape, which fells like to be in another planet. You will be amazed not only by its stounding beaty but also by the immense tranquility you can be surrounded. To conclude your day, you will descend through a beautiful valley, passing next to some community villages, alongside local shepherdess gracing their herds of llamas and alpacas. Also, with some luck can see Vicuñas, a beautiful non-domesticated wild animal that coexisted with Andean people since pre-Inka times. After final and tasty lunch, our private transport will take you back to your hotel in Cusco city.
