Itinerary

DAY 1 | Cusco – Phaqchanta & Seven lakes tour

Early departure (5 am) towards the beginning of trek. At this point you will enjoy a breakfast prepared by your talented chef and meet the hole crew (muleteers tent makers and chefs) who will make possible a memorable journey. This tour offers a breathtaking journey through the heart of the Peruvian Andes, where you’ll discover seven stunning, high-altitude lakes in vibrant shades of turquoise, emerald, and deep blue. Surrounded by the imposing Ausangate mountain, snow-capped peaks, and rugged terrain, this trek immerses you in untouched natural beauty.

Walking distance: 15 km (9.3 mi) –Approximately 9 hours

Elevation: Lowest Point: 4,250m (13,799ft) – Highest point: 4,800m (15,748ft)

DAY 2 | Phaqchanta – Puka Qocha

Phaqchanta – Puka Qocha

After a tasty breakfast, start your trek accompanied by a privileged view of the majestic Ausangate mountain and sensational landscape views of valleys, paramo like terrains and pristine color lagoons at the distance. Along the way, you’ll encounter local wildlife like llamas, alpacas, and soaring condors while experiencing the tranquil lifestyle of Andean communities. Lunch will be after 4 hours and with a spectacular surrounding view. Upon arrival in campsite our crew will have ready set up the tents and rest of equipment, and later enjoy afternoon tea and dinner.

  • Pre-departure briefing. At our office, you’ll meet your trekking guide and the rest of your group, and receive all essential information before your expedition.

  • Duffle Bag: A duffel bag will be provided for your personal belongings during the trek (maximum weight: 6 kg – 13.2 lbs)
  • Quality camping equipment. Enjoy spacious sleeping tents, as well as dining and kitchen tents, complete with tables, chairs, lamps, a portable toilet tent, and all necessary utensils.
  • Extras included for your comfort: We believe small details enhance your travel experience. You will have a warm sleeping bag, liner, inflatable sleeping pad, pillow, hot water bottle, and solar lamp for your tent.
  • First aid kit, oxygen tank and communication tools: Our guides are trained in first aid and wilderness emergencies, with mandatory annual training. They carry a first aid kit and oxygen tank, and evacuations, if necessary, will be swift.
  • 24/7 customer service. We are committed to providing the best support for your travel experience.

Meals:

  • 4 breakfast, 4 lunches and 3 dinners. Enjoy our delicious meal prepared by our talented local chef. We accommodate all dietary preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, and special menus at no extra cost. Our travelers consistently praise our food.
  • Snacks on the trail: Fresh fruit, nuts, cookies, and sweets will be provided daily. You’ll receive a cloth snack bag to minimize environmental impact.
  • Water on the trail: Filtered and treated water will be available throughout the trek. We recommend bringing a 2-liter camel bag, canteen, or bottle.
  • Wake up tea/coffee. Each morning, enjoy a cup of coffee, coca tea, or hot chocolate, and take in the early morning view.
  • Tea time or happy hour. Every afternoon, indulge in hot drinks, popcorn, biscuits, fruit-filled wantons, jam, butter, and more.
  • Health & environmental care. We maintain strict hygiene and environmental standards, bringing all waste back to Cusco for proper disposal.

Transportation:

  • Private Car/van. Transfers from your hotel to the trailhead and back.
  • Private horses/mules. Your gear will be carried by mules, so you only need to carry your daypack.
  • Emergency horse. Available for assistance in case of exhaustion or altitude sickness.

Accommodation:

  • 3 nights on – trail Camping. Accommodation in double tents for added comfort, with single tents available upon request.

Entrance tickets and permits:

  • Entrance fees for Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain, as well as campsite and village passes.

  • Some meals: Day 3 dinner
  • Hiking poles. Optional but recommended (rentals available for $5/day).
  • Tipping is optional but appreciated. Our team is fairly compensated for their services.
