To re-valorize and continue the ancestral traditions are important to us, a reason why we keep using just llamas as pack animals for carrying the luggage as in Inka times. This is a highly cultural immersion tour fascinating insights into their traditional culture and Andean life. On this route, you will experience green valleys, tranquil mountains, breathtaking views of snow-capped Andean peaks, and different traditional with the opportunity to close you up and make local interaction with local people that offer an authentic & small community villages.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we pick you up from your hotel and take you to the community village of Patakancha (2 hrs. from Cusco and 45 min. from Ollantaytambo) to start you llama-pack hike (1:20hrs).
You will start your llama-pack hike from Patakancha village (3,870 m. – 12,771 ft.) towards the Inka Lodge (3,910 m. – 12,903 ft.), where the cultural immersion activities will be done by the local people with your participation. Your belongings will be carry on llamas that will herd altogether you and local people. Upon arrival in the Lodge you will get a very local and warm welcoming by the family and friends of the Family Quispe Huaman. Once inside the dining room take a very well disserved rest and enjoy of the view while take a cup of coffee or herbal tea. After a good rest and before lunch you will be part of two local activities with high cultural immersion content (farming potatoes, potatoes dehydration process – chuño/moraya, the blessing of the llama – llamach´uyay). After a rich cultural experience enjoy a typical Andean lunch prepared by local family. The remainder of the day enjoy your place and interact with local people.
This day, after warm breakfast, start your llama-pack expeditions towards Ipsayqocha lake, a place with stoning views of mountains, local people gracing their llamas and alpacas. From the very top (the mountain pass) you can have breathtaking views of glacier mountains and the valley of Wakawasi that lead into the jungle amazon. Lunch will be on the side of the lake, in a local family house, prepared by Mr. Vicente Quispe ccama and his family. From this spot the view of the lake is just amazing. After lunch and some rest return to patakancha town and from there take your transportation to your hotel.
